Dr. Ann Caballero, or "Dr. C" as her younger clients call her, is a licensed clinical and school psychologist and the owner of Oak Grove Psychological Associates. She earned her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from the APA-accredited program at Wheaton College. Her clinical training includes an APA-accredited doctoral internship in clinical psychology with Houston Independent School District and a post-doctoral fellowship in school psychology with Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District.
Dr. Caballero has spent her career working alongside children, adolescents, adults, and families through some of life's most difficult moments — from everyday anxiety and life transitions to acute crisis and trauma recovery. She has a long history of responding to natural disasters, beginning with Hurricane Katrina, as well as community, church, and school violence. She has helped impacted leaders navigate and scale their crisis response, including on-site and virtual critical incident debriefing. Since November 2023, she has served as psychologist and consultant for The Covenant School in Nashville, where she has led a school-based, grant-funded trauma recovery program following the 2023 school shooting.
She has owned and operated Oak Grove Psychological Associates since 2016 — first in Houston, TX, and now in Nashville, TN — providing individual and family psychotherapy and comprehensive psychological and psychoeducational evaluations to children, adolescents, and adults along with consultation to schools. She was interviewed nationally by Ryan Seacrest on supporting children's anxiety around school re-entry following the COVID-19 pandemic, and has provided supervision and training to graduate trainees throughout her career.
Dr. Caballero was born and raised in Western Kentucky but spent much of her childhood with family in Nashville. After studying, working, and living in Lexington, KY; London, England; Baton Rouge, LA; Chicago, and Houston over the past two decades, Dr. Caballero and her family moved back to the Nashville area in 2023 to be near the rest of their family. She does wish Opryland was here to enjoy with her own kids and is still sad someone decided to pave paradise and put up a shopping mall.
Outside of work, Dr. Caballero cherishes time with her family — these days, that often means shuttling them to their many activities or cheering them on from the sidelines. She also loves spending time in nature and with animals, anything on or near the water, traveling to see friends, live music, spa days, cooking, and playing around with floral design.
